"Delta? Come in Delta...". Atari cannot stop reviving its classic arcade titles at the moment, and we keep lapping them up. This time around, the legendary developer and publisher has teamed up with Canadian studios Mighty Yell and 13AM Games to bring back the 1980 shoot 'em up Missile Command. Missile Command Delta is a brand new, turn-based tactical take on the series which blends strategic gameplay with mystery and puzzle solving. It's a far cry from what we're used to from Missile Command, but the developers are aiming to retain the "tension and suspense of the arcade original". Read the full article on nintendolife.com
EA Sports FC 25 is the only Switch game in the top 5. The onslaught of new releases on other platforms continues to dominate the UK physical game charts this week, as yet another PS5 and Xbox Series game clinches the top spot. WWE 2K25 slams into first place, knocking last week's number one Split Fiction comfortably down to fourth. We don't think Hazelight will mind too much, though, given that the game has already sold well over 2 million copies. We'll ask again: Switch 2 when? Read the full article on nintendolife.com

"Defy the eye". Atari and Llamasoft have announced that I, Robot will be coming to Switch on 17th April 2025. Following on from the pair's previous retro reimagining Akka Arrh, I, Robot is a psychedelic update of a classic 1984 arcade shooter. Renowned and celebrated for being the first commercially produced arcade game rendered in , flat-shaded, real-time, 3D polygonal graphics, it wasn't much of a hit otherwise, but trust Jeff Minter to bring a bit of magic to the rerelease. Salt, pinched. While we're all patiently waiting for 2nd April and the next round of official Switch 2 news from Nintendo, some fans are pulling out the cork boards and red string to try and glean any more information about the upcoming console launch. We assume that word of a release date is right around the corner, but until then, this recent theory is a doozy (thanks, NME). The rumour in question was shared on Twitter by content creator ThunderStash Gaming, and it suggests that the Switch 2 launch date is quite a lot closer than we expected: 15th May, to be precise. Or perhaps you have..! Nightdive Studios, famed for its remarkably comprehensive remasters and ports of classics and curios alike, has announced that it is bringing I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream to the Nintendo Switch on 27th March 2025. Originally released in 1995 by Cyberdreams and The Dreamers Guild, rights to the game were subsequently purchased by Nightdive in 2013, with a release on PC and Mobile following soon after. It was a commercial failure at the time of its original launch, but gained significant acclaim for its dystopian setting and thoughtful writing. The late Harlan Ellison, writer of the original short story of the same name, served as co-writer and designer for the adaptation. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Store will remove plastic wrapping at point of sale. For as long as Pokémon TCG (Trading Card Game) has been a thing, scalping has been an ongoing issue. If you're somehow unaware at this point as to what the practice entails, it essentially sees certain consumers purchasing products at retail price before selling them on at huge mark-ups. It's not limited to Pokémon TCG, by any means, but it's a problem that's been getting exponentially worse over the last few years. In a recent statement from Pokémon Center Singapore thanks, VGC), the store has confirmed that it will be removing the plastic wrapping from Pokémon TCG products at the point of sale from 13th March 2025 onwards. The move has been standard practice in Japan for a while at this point, but this marks the first instance that the change has been utilised in another region. For Mario Land 2 that'll be... six golden coins. Australian retailer EB Games announced last week that it would be expanding its trade-in service to include retro games and consoles. It sounds like a good concept on paper (we retro game fans relish the idea of seeing more classics out in the wild), but in practice, the prices offered by the retailer are rough (thanks for the heads up, Press Start). According to the EB Games website, the new retro service offers the company's "trade value guarantee", meaning you'll get "top coins" for anything you choose to trade from NES to Wii U. Hmm. Beyond the realm. It's been 84 years since Nintendo first announced that the next chapter in the Metroid Prime series was in development. Then, in 1957, an apology was issued as the platform holder took things back to the drawing board, restarting development and shifting production from partner dev Bandai Namco back to Prime series founders Retro Studios. Okay, the exact dates are a little off there, but for fans of the series it feels like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been in the works for an awfully long time. Back in 2017, the Switch's launch year, there was little question as to which console MP4 would arrive on, but news of the developmental reboot in 2019 gave some of us pause. Even small projects can take several years to come to fruition, and with Retro apparently starting over from scratch, would a flagship game like MP4 see the light of day before the Switch's successor landed? Spare time. We challenge any one of you to admit that at some point in the mid-2000s, you didn't try to get a perfect game in Wii Sports bowling. Of course you did! The console's pack-in title had all of us swinging, punching and putting like there was no tomorrow, and the bowling mode might have been the most approachable of the bunch, making that 300-point game feel all the more achievable. The problem was, it was really hard. No matter how hard we tried 20 years ago, a perfect game always felt just out of reach for our mortal bodies. But what if our flesh and blood was the problem? Surely you could hit perfection with, we don't know, a robot? Right? Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Portable nostalgia. We've all got a favourite Nintendo console jingle, right? Y'know, the start-up tune that would play whenever you boot up the system. Much like the consoles themselves, they represent a moment in time; a nugget of nostalgia that effortlessly brings back cosy memories in just a few short seconds. Now, Nintendo is looking to provide that nostalgia in the form of keychains available at the Museum in Kyoto, Japan (thanks, Nintendeal). Presented in what looks to be simple cube designs, the keychains will play the relevant console's start-up tune, though we can't tell exactly whether this is via a simple button press or some other form of input. Beyond expectations. If you can believe it, we are a little over two weeks out from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. While we're all ready and waiting for more news from Nintendo's next console, some folks believe they already have an inkling of one of the showcase's key players (thanks for the heads up, Notebook Check). Reece Reilly, the host of the Kiwi Talkz podcast, recently took to BlueSky with the heavy hint that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be making quite the splash at the Switch 2 Direct. "Nintendo & Retro were keeping their cards close to their chest with Metroid Prime 4 for this exact moment," Reilly teased, "The true unveiling will blow everything else in the direct out of the water". What a resolution. A newly updated patent published on 13th March 2025 provides further details to Nintendo's proposed AI resolution upscaling solution for the upcoming Switch 2 (thanks, Game Rant). Though the idea of AI upscaling for the new console is not a new one – with a previous patent explicitly mentioning Nvidia's DLSS technology – this latest filing lends even further support to the notion. The patent goes into detail regarding how AI upscaling can be implemented and even includes some tasty diagrams to explain how it all works. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

A tail of mystery. In this charming indie, an aspiring writer gets lost in a scenic coastal destination while searching for inspiration. Diana Caproni wanders Borga Marina, making friends and solving mysteries in this low-intensity detective story. Italian developer Memorable Games has crafted a gorgeous setting that serves as an ode to Ligurian communities and Mediterranean vistas. The location and sleuthing format also recall seminal adventure titles of yesteryear - particularly the sun-soaked vibrancy of the Broken Sword series. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Ticking a lot of boxes. We are back with another edition of Box Art Brawl and things are about to get puzzley. Before we dive into this week's match-up, however, let's take a look at what went down last time when we put the NES' Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom under the microscope. Despite what we thought were two pretty sweet covers, it was the Western design that took a commanding win, snatching up 82% of the vote and leaving Japan in the dust with the remaining 18%. Yikes. New Mobile Suits and more. Bandai Namco is still showing support for last year's release Gundam Breaker 4 and to get the new year underway it's released a "free March update". This allows you to acquire the 'GQuuuuuux' and 'Gundam EX' from the shop with in-game currency. In addition to these new mobile suits, there are also additional builder parts, paint patterns, diorama objects and photo poses as well as "new Master Skill settings" and various other game improvements. Will stick drift be a thing of the past? Joy-Con drift has been a major talking point throughout the Switch's lifecycle and if you're worried about it making an unwanted return next-generation, there might be some good news on the horizon. The tech experts at iFixit recently did a teardown of Nintendo's sound clock 'Alarmo' and it appears to be using the "more reliable" Hall effect sensors. The teardown reveals a "magnet and Hall effect sensor" located inside the rotary dial button at the top of the device. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
All the games and DLC, ranked. Tetsuya Takahashi's Xenoblade Chronicles series began its journey on the Wii in 2010, but it's on the Switch where the RPG series has really taken off. With two sequels, plus huge prequel DLC adventures for both, Monolith Soft's RPG series has established itself as one of the jewels in Nintendo's crown. And with the Definitive Edition ports of both the original Xenoblade Chronicles and the underappreciated Xenoblade Chronicles X for Wii U, all the entire series is no playable on a single console. Wahoo! One minute, you're revelling in the celebrations of MAR10 Day, the next, it's the weekend. Where does the time go? While not quite as big as last year's affair, MAR10 Day 2025 brought us some eShop savings, a new Alarmo theme, and a first look at a sweet 18+ Mario Kart LEGO set. Elsewhere, we heard that Niantic is selling Pokémon GO and its entire gaming division for an eye-watering sum of cash, got a look at the new on-rails space shooter from a former Star Fox programmer and got the deets on a new Nintendo Store opening in San Francisco. Update: Confirmed for August. Developer M2 and publisher Taito have today announced that the '80s arcade compilation title Operation Night Strikers will also receive a Switch release at some point this year. Drop it like it's not. Ah, yes, hello. Here I am, yet again, wandering around the same part of the world map over and over. I’m surprised I haven’t managed to cull the White Tiger population near the city of Muse in Suikoden II, because I've been here for almost an hour and I’ve probably killed over 200 of these things. All for one darn rune. 'Why do I do this to myself?' I ask as I continue going through the motions: walk in a circle until I get into a random battle; make sure the enemies are tigers; run away if they’re little clockwork robots, or press fast-forward and auto-battle if they are tigers; defeat them; check the loot; roll my eyes when I don’t get a Double-Jab Orb (formerly known as a Double-Beat Orb which... uh, don’t think about the name too hard); rinse, repeat. Here are the full patch notes. Square Enix has announced that the Final Fantasy series has surpassed a whopping 200 million sales worldwide, five million of which have come from 2023's Pixel Remasters. To mark the occasion, the studio has released a new patch for all six games in the collection, bringing the Switch editions up to ver. 1.2.0. The patch doesn't address anything too drastic in the titles, though there are a good number of balancing tweaks and bug fixes to help things run that bit smoother. A new day dawns. Atelier has always been one of the more niche JRPG franchises out there, but it started to gain much more widespread appeal with the significant success of the Ryza trilogy over the past few years. Now that Gust has closed the book on Ryza’s adventures (for now, anyway…), it’s come time to see if they can maintain that momentum and successfully pass the baton to a new leading lady to act as the face of the franchise. We’d say that it’s been largely successful in that endeavour. Beyond the title, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & The Envisioned Land may not be immediately recognisable as an Atelier entry, but it’s a really good JRPG that justifies the liberties it takes in playing with series conventions. Eschewing the low-stakes, slice-of-life approach of past releases, Atelier Yumia goes for a somewhat grittier and more grounded approach to its storytelling. In this world, alchemy is a forbidden and mostly forgotten art blamed for the catastrophic downfall of the Aladissian Empire centuries ago. Now, only the ruins of that once powerful and advanced civilization remain, and lone alchemist Yumia joins with the Order of Eustella to assist the organisation on a research expedition to uncover answers about the empire's history and mysterious destruction. Let's rock, let's rock today. While it was rumoured for more months than we care to remember, the wait for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4's 11th July release date still feels like a long one. Fortunately, Spotify is here to make things a little bit easier. The streaming service has given us our first look at the upcoming bundle's soundtrack, and it looks every bit as rocking as you would hope. Alongside some returning classics like Motörhead's 'Ace of Spades' and 'Amoeba' by Adolescents, 3 + 4 will also feature a boatload of new tracks including ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar's 'Collard Greens' and Wavves' 'King of the Beach'. Fingers crossed for an early summer release. All eyes are on Nintendo's 2nd April Direct for more official news of Switch 2, but until then, the rumour mill is working overtime to gather as much information as it can about the upcoming console launch. It could also become the "biggest console launch ever". Switch 2 is on the horizon and analysts are predicting it to be the "biggest-ever console launch" in the industry's history as well as the "pricest" Nintendo machine to date. Bloomberg has spoken to multiple analysts who "regularly communicate the company" and its "software and hardware partners" and it's believed it could come with a price tag of "$400 or more". The US tariffs might also "complicate the picture and pressure Nintendo's margins". Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Totally Tactical! We're almost three months in, and we haven't had a single Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game lined up for Switch in 2025 — which, after the trio we got last year, feels like a long time. One that we'd expect to see make its way over at some point, however, is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown, an upcoming turn-based title from developer Strange Scaffold (Sunshine Shuffle, An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs) which will be skating onto PC on 22nd May. You read that right, Tactical Takedown sees the Turtles go turn-based. Playing against the usual heroes in a half-shell hack-and-slash gameplay, Strange Scaffold's upcoming release is more about strategy than slashing. In it, you'll help Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey on a mission to take down the Foot Clan (what are the odds?), with a campaign for each hero. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Including all ports and DLC. The upcoming 'Definitive' Switch version of Xenoblade Chronicles X has gotten us all excited about not just the Wii U gem coming in from the cold, but about the wider series in general. Tetsuya Takahashi's baby has grown and flourished throughout the Switch generation to such an extent that 'Operation Rainfall', the fan-led campaign to pressure Nintendo into bringing Xenoblade Chronicles (among other RPGs) to the West, feels much longer ago than just 13 years. Though FutureLab's denying the rumours. After years of content updates and DLC, developer FuturLab has today revealed PowerWash Simulator 2. If that wasn't news to scrub up for, it seems like it'll be cleaning its way onto Switch 2. It's wild out there. After last week's stellar debut, you might have assumed that Monster Hunter Wilds sales would have slowed down a little in Japan. Slow down they have, but Capcom's latest is still a long way from having its throne usurped. According to Famitsu's latest numbers, Wilds shifted an additional 101,058 on PS5 in its second week, keeping it firmly in pole position. That's despite an admirable effort from Suikoden I & II HD Remaster, which managed to sell 38,884 on Switch and 10,482 on PS5 in its chart debut — in any other week, that might have even secured the win. That's a lotta Rings. If you cast your mind back to last year's arrival of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in cinemas, you might remember that SEGA created an all-new Genesis cart as a neat bit of promotion. Yep, one of these promotional carts has now popped up on eBay with an eye-watering $28,000 price tag attached.
